Approximately 51 hours are needed to transform the Vienna State Opera into the famous ballroom for the Vienna Opera Ball. The seating has to be removed and the parquet floor laid, the 650 flower arrangements have to decorate loges, tables and walls. There are more than 450 balls in Vienna and its surroundings, but this one is the highlight of the year. The tradition of the Opera Ball leads back to the 19th century at the time of the Congress of Vienna.
